The first teaching resource on sexual health developed by and for primary
care.
Sex-lives and Videotape is for doctors and nurses at all levels who work
in primary care and want to consider how to talk with patients about sexual
health. This area is increasingly a major part of primary
healthcare but is seldom taught in depth, and often those involved feel
anxious dealing with sexually related cases.
The focus of the package is on sexual history taking as a clinical tool,
and the video and workbook address both sexual history taking skills and
clinical knowledge.
The package can be used to teach in either one-to-one or group
situations, and is structured so it can be used to suit each individual's or
group's needs and experience.

Sex-lives and Videotape comprises a video and large format workbook.
The workbook includes group notes for teachers to photocopy free of charge.
The package is developed entirely by those with understanding of the
primary care context, as opposed to specialists. It is a co-production
of The Interactive Skills Unit of the Department of Primary Care and General
Practice at The University of Birmingham, The West Midlands Postgraduate
General Practice Education Unit and The Primary Care and HIV Project,
Birmingham Health Authority.
