Structure
HCA can be used in a number of ways:
- as an induction programme, to confirm the competence and knowledge
of newly appointed care assistants and standardise induction for all
HCAs
- as the basis of a training programme to encourage experienced care
assistants to expand their knowledge and keep up to date in an
ever-changing care environment
- as a tool for those seeking an NVQ qualification
The programme is designed to be completely self-supporting, and it
encourages the learner to seek out the answers to the various exercises
themselves. It can be used just as effectively to train individuals
within the workplace, or multiple packs can be purchased for groups
attending sessions for discussion and participation. An in-house
mentor encourages and supports the learner, and monitors the learners
overall progress.
