Dental Nurse Programme
The Dental Nurse Programme is
in two parts and was developed in
anticipation of statutory registration. It is ideal as a tool to confirm the
learner's knowledge before taking the National Certificate
Examination or to assist in building a portfolio of
evidence for the NVQ/SVQ in Oral Health Care Dental Nursing Level 3.
Where a formal qualification
is not the immediate priority the programme can be used as a
stand-alone work based programme. The learner will require the
support of a more experienced colleague to undertake the role of
mentor. The mentor’s main role is to give advice and support
when needed and monitor overall progress. A Certificate of
Achievement will be issued to learners who successfully complete
each part of the programme. The knowledge gained from
completing the programme will then greatly assist the learner if
they later decide to seek a formal qualification
Dental trainers and educators can enhance or develop their own programmes by
purchasing a set of the Dental Nurse Programme for each of the
learners attending their course.
Written by Clare Roberts, Chair of the British
Association of Dental Nurses National Teaching Group and
representative on the Council for the National Examining Board for
Dental Nurses, the Dental Nurse Programme presents flexible,
informative and interactive education. It is easy to
follow and its flexibility allows dental nurses to gain
qualification in their own time and at their own speed.
