Aims and scope

The International Journal of Clinical Leadership presents its subscribers and contributors with a vibrant peer-reviewed publication which reflects the very best work in clinical leadership and management in both the UK and overseas. The journal aims to:

  • create an international readership, and contributors, such that the journal becomes recognised as the leading academic journal in the field
  • strengthen the research base of accepted articles and seek to obtain RAE impact status in five years
  • establish the journal such that it is read by clinicians alongside purely clinical specialist journals
  • reflect the focus across the world of the debate about the future role of doctors in the management and leadership of their health systems
  • disseminate innovative approaches to medial engagement
  • encourage a constructive dialogue between doctors, other clinicians and managers in health systems leading to improved patient care.

The International Journal of Clinical Leadership is seen as the journal of choice for those involved in research, teaching and preparation, and practice of clinical leadership.

The journal publishes research based papers, including short reports. Comparative  work from other health systems in the field of clinical leadership is encouraged.
